Yeah I agree I'm being very kind to Beattie though he did have a good game yesterday and I am very hopeful for him as a Stoke player. I think you're always going to have something of a soft spot for Whelan as a former City player, but I stand by my appraisal of him. i'm guessing the little you have seen of Whelan are the free-kicks that he has scored in the League Cup and also the one that went close against Liverpool. Granted, his dead balls are good (though set piece duties have been taken over by Etherington), but aside from that I don't believe he offers a great deal to the team at Premier League level. He's also prone to crazy moments, like squandering the ball straight to Kuyt in our box during the Liverpool game and only a good save from Sorensen stopped it froim being very costly. Why thank you.
